FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
Can the WondeRip® fence be used with any size tablesaw?
Answer: The current WondeRip® fences were designed to be used
with contractor’s and cabinet models of tablesaws. WondeRip®
fences may be too large (they are 38” long) to be used with
tablesaws equipped with tables smaller than those of contractor’s
saws. Most of the portable tablesaws have tables that are too small
for practical use with a WondeRip® fence.
What kinds of guide rails does the WondeRip® fence clamp
on to?
Answer: In order to use the WondeRip® fence a tablesaw must
be equipped with Biesemeyer or Biesemeyer-clone guide rails. There
are many manufacturers that equip their tablesaws with this type
of guide rails. These rails that are compatible with the WondeRip®
fence have a steel rectangular tube attached to a steel angle iron
at the front, or infeed end, of the tablesaw. The rectangular tubes
come in two sizes: a “Home Shop” version with a 2-1/2”
wide by 1-1/2” deep tube and a “Commercial Shop”
version with a 3” wide by 2” deep tube.
Will the WondeRip® fence clamp on to guide rails containing
a round tube, square tube or other shapes?
Answer: No, the WondeRip® fence is not designed to clamp on
to any of these shapes.
Will the WondeRip® fence clamp on to the guide rails
of Craftsman® tablesaws?
Answer: No, a WondeRip® fence will not clamp on to the guide
rails of a Craftsman® tablesaw unless the tablesaw is equipped
with Biesemeyer or Biesemeyer-clone guide rails.
Can a WondeRip® fence be mounted on a tablesaw with
a Unifence?
Answer: Because of the many requests we’ve received, we designed
a custom flange that we can attach to the body of our rip fence.
This flange allows this WondeRip® fence model to slip on to
the clamping head of a Unifence in place of the Unifence’s
extrusion. We charge the same price for a WondeRip® fence modified
for Unifence guide rails. Since the custom flange is not stocked,
however, but must be built after receipt of an order, there may
be a 2 week delay before the order for this Unifence model is shipped
out.
What stock thicknesses will the feeder mechanism of the
WondeRip® fence handle?
Answer: The straight (unbent) aluminum feeder tabs, that are supplied
with the rip fence, will push stock that is 5/16” or thicker
into the saw blade. We are beginning to produce an offset feeder
tab (bent into a slight “S” shape) that will push stock
as thin as 3/16” in thickness into the saw blade. These offset
tabs should be used with our Y-shaped acetal leaf that slips into
the body of each of our vertical holddowns. Both the offset tabs
and Y-shaped leaves are optional accessories that are not part of
the standard WondeRip® fence package.
